| catnipper's Full Review: Smart and Friendly CD Recorders |
I brought the CD TurboWriter RW in December 1999. I did not used the software that came with it. Since, it was an outdated version of Adaptec's Easy CD Creator v3.5 with date June 1999 on it, but I updated it to the latest version on Adaptec web site, I still get the same problem. I could not get it working in Windows 98 with my set of software, but it works in NT 4.0 Workstation without a problem with a similar set of software in the same computer. And I was replacing a 2X burn-speed HP 7200i, which worked perfectly without a bad burn. But, with the CD TurboWriter RW, I had created dozen of bad burn. I would recommand using your own software for it, such as Ahead Nero CD Burning Software, so far so good for me.
I would not get this brand of drive, even this drive look like a Ricoh drive from the outside. Since, Smart and Friendly repack other manufacturer drives. I did tried to call tech support to get help at the beginning of my problem with the drive, that was no help at all, you neverever get a real human being, I tried it for about five times in a week. And I also tried email, that took about a week to get a reply back, to me, very unacceptable.
