| slyfur's Full Review: Dell Latitude CPt |
I have been working with a group of about 300 different Latitude Cpt's (150 - Cpt C's and 150 Cpt S's). The specs are good enough and overall these systems are a good value. Let me just outline the problems that we've seen over the past year-and-a-half:
1) flimsy plastics - there are several parts of the laptop that are prone to breaking with NORMAL wear-and-tear. The plastic near the display hinges has broken for many of our users. Also, the media bay latches can be easily broken if you aren't careful. I personally haven't broken any of this plastic, but I see these all the time. There is a lot of "flex" in the unit.
2) average quality control - we've have numerous users who have had batteries replaced and several people with keyboard problems (primarily - the 8 i k , and Alt keys sometimes quit working.
Despite these problems, I wouldn't buy any laptop except Dell. Customer service is pretty good for the basic stuff. But, I think I would go with the Latitude C600 line instead. The plastics seem much more durable and I don't think that the price is too much more.
