A friend had bought this game, and then I saw it in a store. I read the cover and thought about it, put it back, and went to ask him what he thought of it. By his suggestion I bought it that very night.
I first saw the previews, and expected a grand show. I also expected incredible music, and an intense story.
I didn't get the best graphics I had ever seen. I got good ones though. I didn't get the best music, but it was pleasing and relaxed me. I sort of saw the ending coming, but I didn't care.
The challenge of Myst lies not in how quickly you hit the mouse. Not in how well you can see into the future. It's got nothing to do with following directions. It's got a lot to do with just plain being clever. Riddles riddles everywhere! The things are lying all over the place! I'm not sure how many riddles there are in Myst, but certainly enough to keep any self proclaimed riddler entertained for two weeks or more - unless you have no life.
The story is intriguing. The music is excellent. The graphics are good. The ending is decent. The riddles are fantastic. No one feature of this game makes it any better than any other game of its type - if such a type actually exists. What makes this game so wonderful is the combination of all three.
If you consider yourself a riddler, explorer, or problem solver, you simply must try yourself against this game. I would challenge you to do so, but the game itself does that.
