Cable.....is it worth the extra $$$$

I signed up for a cable modem last fall through the new ATT @ Home service. I was extremely disappointed with both the performance and the service. The first disappointment was the lack of speed. I discovered that unless you have the most advanced system available, it doesn't perform with their software. Secondly, the speed is not applicable when the web traffic is at a snail's pace. It's like driving a porsche on a freeway in rush hour! Can't move any faster than anyone else. Finally, the service was absolutely intolerable! My system would lock up numerous times each day. I was told to take it all down, unplug the modem and wait for 5-6 minutes so it could reset itself. Then bring it all back up....only to do it again several times that day! The e-mail was not dependable. Often took up to 8 hours for an e-mail to go through if at all! When I cancelled my service the e-mail had been down all together for 7 days! NOT ACCEPTABLE. Now, I'm finding it difficult to get off their service. I called the end of November to disconnect. I've talked to them 4 times by phone now, plus sending e-mails and I'm still not disconnected and they have continued to bill my credit card. Every time you call to disconnect, of course, their service is down and they can do nothing. At this point you're no doubt pretty excited about this new service! Well, you too can sign up for this wonderful service FREE for the first month.....but you'll never be able to get off of it! BEWARE!
