I like music, I like video games. This card does both quite well. This card uses what's called WaveTable technology. I don't have much too say about this card because I did not own it long. I bought it one day, and I liked it, but then I saw the SB Live! Platinum, and bought that and gave the PCI128 to my brother, using a SB 16. Even he likes it.
The MIDI is pretty good. It has a unique sound to it that I liked. I do wish the Wave Sets could be edited. It has effects that you can apply in real time that make it as good as a ~$250 amplifier, so I think it is good on your wallet. I mostly used this card on a computer that was slow enough to not play new video games, so I have no idea how it uses 3D sound.
Basically, this soundcard gets the job done pretty well. Especially since it supports 4-channel audio.
