| tsherr's Full Review: AOpen MX3W Pro-V |
When we looked at motherboards to sell for a basic computer system (aimed primarily and business users and home users who don't want play games) we evaluated several motherboards. Since we have sold AOpen motherboards for some time, and know how reliable they are (we have had four motherboard failures out of the last 1000 sold) we focused primarily on the MX3W-Pro-V, a board based on the i810 chipset, with integrated sound and video, aimed at the entry-level market.
I have tested this board with both Celeron (PII) and PIII CPUs and used Windows 95, 98SE, and ME on it. In all cases, the motherboard has survived long term stability testing with no problems. These tests include both Winstone 2000 Content Creation, Quake 3, NHL 2001, and Stability Test. After testing three different boards for eight days with no failures, we chose this board.
This is a great board, if you are looking for an inexpensive board that will give you good speed in Business and Internet applications, this is the board to get. Although it is capable of playing games, the i810 integrated video is not really up to the task of hardcore game playing, and the lack of the an AGP slot (which is the case on all i810 motherboards I have seen) means that upgrading the video requires a PCI card, which are more expensive, and generally slower, than the AGP variety.
