I guess I might just be lucky but my 1 year old Emachine is running just fine!Nov 25 '00 Write an essay on this topic.I don't know about all the negative reviews on eMachine's products but I have a one-year-old eMachine eOne and even though I get made fun of sometimes for having an eMachine its doing just great! Its a pretty stable, attractive (hmmmmmm.... does it remind anyone of an iMac, I guess so because they lost that lawsuit!) and extremely useful machine. It is compact, colorful and has great features like the ability to hook up a VCR to it, and a CD player that works even when the unit is off. This computer cost me 800$- which is quite a bargin for a 466 Mhz Celeron PC. Its monitor is crystal clear and here is a list of Pros and Cons. Pros: Very Affordable! Everyone probably knows this but this is a very affordable brand which is always very nice. My machine is very stable, I can't speak for all the negative reviews on eMachines but I guess there must be some stable units shipped! Also, eMachines tend to have a lot of ports (mine has 2 PC Card slots, an Ethernet jack, phone in/phone out, a headphones port, a line out port, 2 USB ports, a serial port, a parallel port, 3 Mouse/Keyboard/Other Ports, and an AVI port In( for watching TV on my Computer!) Cons: Although it is a very nice machine and I love it a lot, it tends to run a little slow, it takes an excruciatingly long time to load ( I think Win 98 shares the blame for this) and like all eMachines, came with a quirk. My eOne's quirk is that the CD rom drive doesn't stay shut (THIS CAN GET PRETTY ANNOYING). Synopsis: Well I hate to lean to far to the GREAT side because the average rating of this product is a 2 (when I wrote this review) but I am very satisfied with my purchase, it has been a year and all parts are still functioning great, I have only had one time where I needed to boot up my computer from an outside media source and this computer has served me well! My advice to anyone who's looking out for an eMachine is to purchase the extended warranty from Circuit City or Best Buy, belive me, even though i have not had to take my computer in, a lot of people have to take in eMachines for repairs, and some eMachines have known to just die, anyway, always back up your files and buy the extended warranty because you'll kill yourself if you don't and your system gets possesed! |
