| the_goat17's Full Review: 3dfx Voodoo3 2000 AGP |
when i bought my amd k6-2 350 i had know idea the video was integrated.
so when i saw that it was using my ram for my video i was a little angry.
the v-ram was set to 4 megs, so i tried bumping it to 8. it worked, well, no it sucked, while playing need for speed i tried to peel out, some mystical grey blocks shot out from my jagged car, these mystical grey blocks slowed down the frame rate to under 10 fps (literally).
after a long couple months i just about had it, so i asked my friend to run down to the store to pick up a voodoo 3 2000 *pci* ( since that's all i could use ) but to my amazement i got home and there it was, only it was *agp*. well, i would have taken it back except for the 15% restocking fee.
Then i remembered, the first time i heard of voodoo 3 was from my friend and i saw the impressive frame rates (some above 70). after many times of him saying he had an agp ( then i looked ) he had a pci! so we traded.
since that day after i installed it this has a fairy tale ending. i went to play need for speed at the absolute highest settings i was happy to play it at between 50 and 60fps, not only that but when i spun my tires i saw smoke! not blocky squares which looked like chunks of my tire coming off.
over all, this is a great card, it's not top of the line but it plays games with a very nice and smooth view. there is not really any use to spend $350 on a card with higher frame rates seeing as the average human eye can't notice anything above about 40fps
