More Space, A Waste?

Jun 10 '00

When buying a new hard drive, there are many things that you should consider. Including, the space. A lot of times, people think that they need a ton of space, but they dont. If you take a look at things, you really dont need so much space-it can be a waste of money. I believe that if you are a typical everyday user, you should definetely consider buying a hard drive of at least 16 GB, this will provide enough space for games, music files, text files and anything else you may have. If you are a hard core computer addict I reccommend a hard drive that has at least 20 GB of space, to provide for everything you need. Now, the prices of hard drives are very cheap and many times it may not be worth paying money for a small drive. To find out if you are getting a good deal, first consider the amount of money you are paying per GB. To do this, take the total price of the drive and divide it by the amount of space on it. This will tell you the price per GB. Once you have compared several models in this way and picked the best, do another thing. Consider the speed. Most common speed for a larger hard drive is 5400 RPM- fast enough access speed. This is really all you need to know when buying a drive. Just remember that you dont need a ton of space-it mostly gets wasted.
