Oh, what a lifesaver. After almost a year with serious RSI (to the point where I would wake up in the middle of the night from pain and numbness in my wrists) I decided I had to do something about it.
After careful research I settled on the Kinesis Contour Keyboard, which has immediately reduced pain - almost to the point of no longer being there.
Oh, what a lifesaver!
The layout takes a little while to get used to - there are numerous changes. For one thing, all the keys used by your pinkies (Enter, Control, Alt, et cetera) are moved to thumb function, along with a single key for the space bar. Further, the keys are arrayed in a concave, essentially placing keys closer together.
After a few days of over-reaching for keys, however, you'll be typing just as fast as previously - quite possibly faster.
