AOL Instant Messenger or AIM was origionaly just sending text messages back and forth. Now you can Send photos, voice chat, check stocks, and read email. To sign up for AIM is very simple, all you need is an email address. Everything to do on AIM is neatly placed under 3 tabs. With AIM, you can join chat rooms with other AOL members. No AOL needed. Also with AIM you can pick a Buddy Icon for yourself. A buddy Icon is a little icon so people can tell you appart from others by just a little icon. The icons are very cute and adorable. The best thing of all about AIM is that is all totally free and you don't need AOL it talk to other AOL members.
