Samsung has a reputation (in the monitor industry, especially) for providing a high quality product at a reasonable price. The SyncMaster 955SL (short length) will only help that reputation. The picture quality is excellent with a .22mm horizontal dot pitch. It also features a 1600x1200 resolution.
I purchased this monitor primarily for it's short length. I am a college student and need to conserve as much space as possible in my dorm room. Having a 19" monitor that only has the depth of a 15" is extremely advantageous. I can fit this monitor on my desk and still have room for the keyboard, speakers, mouse, and other goodies.
I bought this monitor two months ago for a price of $348. It was at the time, (and I believe still is) a fantastic value. The Syncmaster series of monitors is usually ranked somewhere near the top of PC World Magazine's top 10 monitors. That is what first got me interested in this particular monitor.
No product is perfect, but the Syncmaster comes pretty close. A couple things that might bug some people:
The screen is not perfectly flat..there is a slight curvature
The on screen menu controls are not as easy to use as those of
other monitors that I've used. (Dell, MAG, ViewSonic)
Regardless, this is still a great value and I wholeheartedly recommend it.
