| Strango's Full Review: Hewlett-Packard Ati Rage Fury |
I chose to go with a Rage Fury when I bought my system last June. The deciding factors were hardware dvd and good 32 bit performance. In these two areas, at least, the card does fairly well in. However, it stumbles horribly when you go beyond those features. ATi's drivers suck, frankly. I had to find hacked drivers online to run D3D and OpenGL without reinstalling drivers in between games. Not to mention that 1/2 of the packed games wouldn't run with the latest drivers (of course, that was last June, but still a few months after the card came out.) Quake1 has reversed lighting, which is an interesting 'feature', but I've never seen any review mention it, so perhaps it's unique with my system.
To be quick and to the point, I would NOT recommend this card to anyone who is a serious gamer. If you're simply looking for a decent card with hardware dvd and adequate gaming performance, this could be the card for you. Myself, I wish I would've gotten a TNT2.
