| srop's Full Review: Logitech Camera Family |
When you buy a PC camera, there's not much you can expect from it. I wanted to buy a PC camera, so I could take pictures and movies of myself, and send them to my friends and far abroad family. I thought that it is a cool thing, when people can see me live when talking to them through the internet (and I'm not talking about cyber-sex).
After about an hour of trying to install the camera (with a very poor written manual), I finally managed to make it work. I immediately started taking pictures of myself, and I was shocked! The pictures that I took turned out to be unfocused, too dark and in low quality. I could barely recognize that it's me in those pictures! I tried to change some options, but nothing helped. The pictures were just bad.
I turned the option to "video mode", and that was even worse. The video that I just made (of me waving to the camera) had about 4 pictures in it, each picture with my hand in another side. Imagine a movie made out of pictures, like in the 50's, and in a new and modern camera…
When I read the manual over and over again, the only thing I could find about showing myself live to other people, is a name of a program that could do it. That’s it. What can I do with a name of a program??? I would expect the company to send me this program with the camera itself…
The program itself is too slow. It takes it too much time to load, to much time too think, and it takes it about 2 seconds to realize that I pressed a button. Not only that, it also slows the whole computer down.
Maybe this camera is so bad because it was pretty cheap for a PC camera, (50 $), but I don't think that you need to spend more than that for a fairly good camera for amateurs. For this amount of money you should get at least the minimum requirements, and nothing less.
Thank you for reading my review!
