| gjax's Full Review: Pogo Altura |
The Pogo Altura is an excellent buy for very little at first. The problem is the configuration is a little lacking. This was a very large problem just a week ago. Though Pogo recently changed their rates by quite a bit. While before it cost $1200 to upgrade from a 500Mhz processor to a 700 now that upgrade is only $600. Other prices have also been slashed such as RAM. The big issue when purchasing an Altura is what you want. I do not suggest making large upgrades. The first step or two in the upgrade options are ususualy well priced. That changes once you hit the upper end. With the video card they have a Diamond Viper 770 Ultra as the fastest option for $150 tagged on. Once you subtract the money that is worked into the base price for the Voodoo 3 2000 that's not a very good price. You also have to ask what you want to reconfigure yourself. If you have the Linux know how and are willing to buy individual parts all over the internet then I would say go for it. Though if you have that point of view then you would probably build your own machine. So it all depends. Overall the prices are much better than they were and the machine is an excellent deal. I do highly suggest it.
