In August, I decided that I was fed up with my old Packard Bell 200 MMX so I began looking for another computer. I immediately thought of Gateway since many had recommended them to me. According to my friends who had Gateway computers, it was THE way to go.
I found that for the computer I chose and it's options and features, it was very competitively priced. I chose the 600 MHz Pentium III processor with 128 MB RAM and I downgraded to a 13 gigabyte hard drive and 17" monitor to save a little money. That's one thing I like about Gateway is that you do have the option to downgrade or upgrade a particular system. It's built to be tailored to your needs and wants.
The speed of this computer is, in one word, awesome! I hadn't really expected it to be much faster than my old computer, but I was wrong. Applications opened up in a fraction of the time it took my old computer to open them.
I haven't had any errors with this computer so far and I've had it for almost six months. There is however, one problem I've had with it, and it would most likely be a problem with any new computer I would have bought but I'll mention it anyway. I had a SCSI card in my old computer that I transferred to the new Gateway, but it appears the SCSI card isn't compatible with the motherboard. So in order to use some of my peripherals, a new SCSI will be needed. Other than that I have NO complaints about this computer.
I cannot comment on technical support since I've never needed them, but in my book, that's a huge plus!
