this seemed like a good buy, everything you need for DVD in one box at an affordable price.
i bought the 12x + dxr-3 kit, as i have the sound blaster live sound card which is a good product. this drive lasted all of 2 weeks (i hardly used it)! the drive tray was very poorly built & wobbled, the decoder card more or less crippled my frame rates playing games & the w2k drivers are still in beta (i wanted to watch movies using w2k as the only thing w98 is good for is games support). i called buy.com where i bought it & was asked if i'd called creative tech support. to which i had to bluntly reply to the poor guy that my recourse under uk law was with where i bought it from & not the manufacturer, besides i'm not waiting 2 weeks to speak to a guy who knows less than i do!
so its sat here on my desk waiting for the ups man to collect it. my main concern is that creative in their wisdom have stuck the 'void if broken' seal in such a way that it is impossible to install the drive without breaking the seal. maybe its a ploy to void all the warranties on such a cheap product. it will be intresting to see if i get my money back, because i do not want another one, & could not recommend this to anyone.
once bitten twice shy as they say.
