Holy Smokes! Was I just driving in the Daytona 500 behind Jeff Gordon or am I sitting at my desktop running the track with my Microsoft Force Feedback Sidewinder Wheel??!! Well the truth is that I was running the track with Nascar 3 with my Microsoft Sidewinder Wheel and it was JUST LIKE being there!!
I bought the wheel for the sole purpose of playing the Nascar 3 game on my PC and this wheel is AWESOME! Super easy set up, no problem hooking it up or Windows recognizing the wheel in the system. Pretty much plug and play, your ready to GO!
The wheel attaches to your computer desk with a large clamp near the wheel and with another device that operates just like a vice. Once you have your wheel attached, it is attached for good! It does NOT move an inch, it doesn't slide, or pop off the desk which is quite amazing given the force this thing puts out if you run off the track! Place the foot petal attachment at your feet and load up your favorite driving game!!
The wheel responds VERY well, there is absolutely NO lag what so ever in your actions with the wheel and what is going on in the screen. The force feedback on this wheel is unreal! Run off the track? Hit a wall? Get in a nasty wreck with Bobby Labonte? If so, hold on because this wheel is going to shake, vibrate and rattle like crazy! Super realistic. Running a track with high banks? Get ready to fight the wheel to keep the car in the groove! This thing is great!
The pedals work really well, there is a gas pedal and a brake pedal to operate. They work just as well as wheel does up above. My only suggestion or concern here is, as time goes by, and you are on the gas, the pedal base tends to slide away from you. If you can, before you start a race or use the wheel, you might want to place something in front of the pedal base so that if it starts to slide away from you it will stay where you want it.
This is a must have if you are a lover of any sort of driving game. It is not cheap, but WELL worth the $$$ for hours of fun driving excitement!
