I recently received several offers by e-mail for online casinos. They are not sites that I normally use yet these offers intrigued me and so I decided to give them a try. The first of them that I tried was Gold Key Casino.
Here's the offer. 100 quarters to play in their casino for checking them out. Sounds good doesn't it? Well I figured that i was worth my time to check out so I did.
The lead in on their site repeated the offer and gave a "code" to enter. Then the first warning sign hit. You had to open a money account. Okay that sounds reasonable.
Now the second warning sign. They don't have their own service, instead you must open an account with another company. I checked out their complaint page at this point because I wanted reassurance. It promised that any e-mail of a problem would be responded to within 24 hrs. In addition they had a 24 hour phone number. Okay I thought, there is at least some recourse if something goes wrong.
I followed the links like a good little boy and entered all of my information as required. Then I checked my account and sure enough there was money. I figured that I had received the free money they had promised so I merrily played away, and lost it all.
Then, in checking my credit card on line, that same day I came across a charge for 20.00$. So I thought, no problem right? After all they have a way to get in touch and they have a promise on that page to do so quickly. Wrong again.
I have, over a 5 day period, e-mailed them several times asking for either the "free" quarters that they have promised or, at the very least, some explanation of why I will not receive the money. After all I figured that I might have entered something wrong. NO answer!
Okay, I figure I'll try that nifty number they have set up for me. Yet every time I dial it I get... a dial tone?
In the end I'm out 20 bucks. No big deal. Yet I wonder how many more unsuspecting people they are bilking? After all 1000 people times 20$ is a nice days work.
All in all I wouldn't try them again if they actually gave me the money. On the other hand, I have found that there are legitimate offers like this one out there but it's, as always, a gamble.
Oh, one last thing. They also claim to have the highest payouts on the net. Somehow I doubt it.
