ebates is just like a mail-in rebate, only better! Unlike mail-in rebates, you get a rebate of a percentage of the purchase price (no rebates on shipping and handling).

By using ebates, you get a rebate from any participating merchant. The rebate percentage is dependent on the merchant's commission paid to ebates. Rebate percentages vary from 1-25%, with most merchants averaging a 3% rebate. But 3% is better than no rebate!

ebates has a referral program, in which you get a percentage of referral ebates earnings. This money comes from ebates and is not taken from your referral's earnings.

The only catch is that you must visit the merchant through ebates' web site, and you must give the merchant your ebates e-mail address (@ebates.com). But this process lets ebates set a cookie for the merchant so that proper credit is given, and so ebates can verify purchases. You are only allowed to give your ebates address to merchants, and any mail sent to the ebates address is forwarded to another that you give.

ebates does have a $5 minimum payout. But any amount not paid out is carried over to the next quarter. ebates is a great way to get money back for your normal online purchases.
