Be VERY careful about choosing Dreamcast

Written: Jan 08 '00
Pros:Newest, most powerful system right now
Cons:long history of failures, Nintendo and Sony going to make newer systems.

Sega Dreamcast-the first of the next generation Consoles. But should you get it or wait?
I think wait.

Sega has had a long history of failures. Sure, they develop pretty cool stuff. But after only a couple years, all their systems have gone down. The Genesis is almost an exception. It lasted for a while, but never got as popular as SNES.
The Game Gear was a very cool idea. I even bought one. But then I figured out it was a different model that didn't have a TV Tuner, and games for it stopped coming out after a year ('95) I don't even remember the one that came out in '96 or '95. And remember the 32X and CD attachments to Genesis? Down, down, down.

Now let's turn to the Dreamcast itself. Right now, it is the most powerful system around. But how long will that last? With the new Nintendo code-named dolphin and the Playstation 2, they are going to have big competition. And those two will most certainly more powerful. And another thing, why are the controllers so freakin' huge?

It seems the biggest reason for failure is that most of the games sucked.
The only hope this time around for Sega is to have as many games on their console as the others.
