Okay PC; but no Customer Support
Feb 10 '00
COMPAQ is a PC that is easy to use and good for the beginner. I work in the Information Systems Department for a major hospital corporation, and it is because COMPAQ PC's are so easy to work with that we use COMPAQ through out the hospital. The PC users at our facility are on all level from extremely basic (mouse 101 recommend) to programmers. COMPAQ works well for all.
But on a personal note, I recently bought a COMPAQ to use at home. There was a major problem with the computer. I learned the Customer Support seems to assume that the caller is ignorant. I was insulted by lies as the Technicians attempted to bluff their way through instructions and explanations. It took almost 3 months to have the problem resolved. The communication between the CS Technicians was absolutely ridiculous. 4 different times I asked for a supervisor because I doubted the competency of the Technician, and each time they refused stating the supervisor was "busy". I was oh hold 15 minutes one call before hanging up and starting all over with another trip through the automated phone answering system. I began a log of the transactions and the incompetence that occurred. Today we use that log at work for a training exercise in our Customer Service Class as an example of how not to perform.
Since the PC was repaired I have had no additional problems. And it is ever bit as good as the ones we use at the hospital. I just pray that I will never have to deal with the COMPAQ CUSTOMER SUPPORT LINE ever again.
