There are few products that I rate low or on which I write negative opinions, but rest assured that I am taking my sweet time to outline the WORTHLESSNESS of this product.
Why I bought a Camera
I attended college in California and my girlfriend was in Texas, so I wanted/needed some means of visual communication. To remedy this problem, I bought a Logitec web camera for around $70, hoping to use it for frequent picture taking and occasional video-conferencing. (begin sarcastic laughter here)
The features of the Logitec and what you need to hook it all up
I will give the camera some credit as far as installation goes. All you need is a USB port, the cable and software provided, and a little patience. I had to install the software three times before it would work properly, but I could definitely be in the minority as far as that goes.
The features are relatively simple and very appealing (especially for a homesick college boy). The camera says that it can take clear photographs in 3 sizes, film “mini-movies” and finally video-conference with another web camera user.
Let me now tell you why I count not perform ANY of these three “features” with ease.
1)Photographs- On the box (and of course I am not naïve enough to believe everything I see on a box) it shows a perfectly clear image, as if taken by a digital camera. When I sent my girlfriend the first picture I took she told me it looked “fine” (to be read in a nice, take pity on the kid who got ripped off voice)
2) Mini-Movies- I clicked the record button as instructed and I began to record myself talking for about 5-10 seconds as a test. When I played it back, not only did I realize that I could barely tell it was me in the video (and I have a good idea of what I look like) but I also figured that I had to reconfigure my entire sound to make my voice audible on the video.
3) Video-Conferencing- (Continue sarcastic laughter here) Both me and my girlfriend had T1 internet connections, so the speed was no problem. The problem was, despite a good speed, the software seemed to not want the video call to go through. When we finally re-installed again, it worked…with a delay of LITERALLY 45 SECONDS!!!!!!! I don’t know if I can speak for the masses, but that is RIDICULOUS.
When all was said and done, I returned the POS Logitec camera for a much better one. I am now very happy and content with my Intel PC Camera Pack (see my review of it).
Thank you for the read and hopefully you are no longer considering this product, because, from someone who does not like to talk too negatively about anything that is decent, this product is not worth more than 20 dollars.
