| HNAC's Full Review: Dell Dimension XPS T500 |
From our first experience with Dell, it was clear we were dealing with a company that was a cut above the rest. When my husband called to order the computer, he took the recommendation of a friend of his, who is a computer geek. The guy had recommended my husband get all kinds of features. The Dell guy began by asking us what we were going to be using the computer for and then proceeded to tell my husband that because we weren't going to be doing any of the fancy, high tech stuff you can do with computers, we didn't need half the stuff my husband's friend had told us to get. We were really impressed because the Dell guy had an easy sale right there in his lap, but instead, he ended up saving us well over $1000 in stuff we didn't need.
The second nice surprise came when the computer was shipped to us ahead of schedule!
In our house, our computer is used for a multitude of things. My husband uses it for his business and to play CDs on while he's working, my daughter uses it for her computer games and I use it for the Internet. Our Dell XPS T500 handles it all very easily without any delays or problems. The speakers are also excellent and everything on this computer is so easy to use that my 4 year old daughter can adjust things to her own liking pretty much by herself.
The only problem we had with it was with the monitor about a week after we got it. I was so frustrated trying to get it to work and called the Dell helpline. The technician I spoke to was very nice and patient. He told me one thing to try and when that didn't work, he simply said, "Alright ma'am, we'll be sending you out a new monitor." I was flabbergasted! I didn't expect to get a new monitor without a fight and certainly not without having to go up the chain of command at Dell! Because the computer was brand new, we still had the boxes it all came in. He gave me instructions for packaging it and for it to be picked up from our home. At the end of the call, he even apologized!
As surprised as I was by the quick and easy response I got to my problem with the monitor, I expected the old monitor to be sitting around our house for days waiting to be picked up, but once again, Dell proved me wrong. The old monitor was picked up the next day and within a week, I had a brand new monitor! I just could not believe how easy it all had been and from that moment on, I was sold on Dell.
In the years we have had a computer in our home, I have dealt with Gateway, Packard Bell and Dell. Dell is by far the best -- not only in product but also in customer service. This computer is very well worth the money we paid for it and it is so nice to find a company that stands solidly behind their product. Dell is not out just to make sales. They are out to make satisfied customers.
