Working at a computer store allows you to see all different kinds of things go through your hands, and the Geforce 256 just happened to be my latest plaything. I use the term "plaything" loosely.

There isn't one thing about this card that isn't serious. It's seriously fast, seriously simple to install, and seriously the best card I have seen. With frame rates reaching an awe-inspiring 67-70fps in Quake 3, at 1024x768 on a P2 450, I nearly fainted. Just running the demonstration programs made you salivate. Real time rendering at a maximum of 183Mhz, plus a massive 32MB of onboard DDR memory truly crank out the poly's like never before.

If you want a gaming machine, then it's pointless to even consider another video card. All of the other cards of today pale in comparison to the Geforce 256 chip, and Creative does a bang up job putting it together in the nice little package they have.

If you're looking for free games with your card, however, look elsewhere. This bad boy can't afford to put any of those in there, just a few demos. You won't regret not getting any games though, because you'll be reviving all your old 3d games to splendidly beautiful hi-res fragfests.
