| smud's Full Review: HP Pavilion 8660 |
I have owned the HP Pavilion 8660 for about two months now. So far so good. I have not had any real disappointments with this machine and it does run extremely fast.
My previous computers listed in order were:
IBM
Packard Bell
Compaq
Gateway
This is my first Pentium III and I am hoping this is not the only reason that this computer is working so well.
I sold my Compaq after three months of ownership. Dealing with customer service at Compaq is something I don't want to experience again.
My Gateway was sent to me incomplete and customer service, technical assistance and I have had a time with this machine. After two years of ownership, it has been decided that it must have been shipped with a bad motherboard. Oops, to Gateway.
There are some benefits to have a restoration CD with the HP Pavilion. I like the idea so far. I have spent many hours restoring software to my system with the previous models. It is very important to remember however, if you do not back up any new data you have on your computer, then there really is no one to blame than yourself. This is where the 'CD Writer Plus' comes into play. I have had Zip Drives, but I like the speed of backing up data on a CD. The benefit of having your data of CD is obvious.
This HP is complete right out of the box. I didn't experience any problems with assembly.
There are some things I still need to tweak a bit, but overall this system was a good purchase for me.
