"You are what you eat.........."

Written: Nov 10 '00
Pros:finding out nutritional values, having recipes handy
Cons:if your computer crashes, you lose everything

Whoever was the author of that quote must have been trying to tell us something. Many people today have atrocious eating habits, and I am one of that many.

I recently started the weight watchers at work program, with weight watchers, foods are assigned a certain point value based on portion size, fiber, calories, and fat grams. You can calculate your points by reading the food label on the product. I needed a way to find out how much points was in something that did not come with a food label, something that I created from scratch, and/or something from a recipe. A weight watchers buddy of mine suggested the Mastercook software program.

The mastercook program is awesome. There are thousands of recipes that I can search through. With each recipe, you can find the nutritional value. Mastercook also allows me to create or import recipes into the program, and find out the nutritional value for that.

Having the recipe book on your computer is so much easier than just having a hardcover recipe book. You can change things around, you can delete things, without ruining anything.

Although I was given the link to the Sierra homepage, I purchased my mastercook program at Beyond.com. for $9.95 plus shipping. When I received it, a $20 mail in rebate form was attached to the box. If you like to cook, or have a need to know the nutritional values, I suggest you get this program.
