I have a Gateway 475 with 128MB of RAM and a 13GB Western Digital Hard Drive. First off the best things of the entire package is the Monitor and the Killer Boston Acoustic Speakers. As far as the actual computer goes, well let's just say I've used better.
The case is extremely small and heats up rather fast. The Main board has onboard ATI Rage Pro. This card works fine unless you want to play 3D games and DVD movies. Example: Playing Mech Warrior 3, it will close out of the game when heavy action takes place. (I've found a Voodo Card will fix this though.)DVD's will stutter and skip. (Voodo Card will not fix this, infact Tech Support had me flash just about everything in my system. Gota ask yourself, Why do I have to flash my hardware when it was supposed to work in the first place?)
So far I have been through two mainboards in one year. The DVD drive I have taken out and put in another system because it works better in it then it does in the Gateway. The Mainboard only has 3 PCI slots, that's fine unless you add a network card then a Voodoo Card...with the modem that leaves you with nothing.
The Winmodem they ship with it slows the system down when on the net, MP3's will skip when going to different web sites.
If you put in a Voodoo card and get a better Modem it can be a half way desent computer system...maybe.
