Buying an AMD athlon now?

If you are thinking of buying a computer in a few weeks, maybe you've found some troubles trying to be sure to make the good deal. There are many different kinds of CPU and motherboards (the core of the computer)they don't have the same characteristics. The main point is that you don't want to spend a lot of money a product that will be useless in a few months. Well, in fact any CPU or motherboard will be useless in a few months whatever the price you'll put on it but what you have to do is not to miss some new features that will appear very quickly...
so, the question is it now the right time to buy an Athlon? I post this review because I'm actually trying to buy one, and I realized that most of the "big new things" are not available now for the Athlon. I mean, AGP (accelerated graphic port) is only 2X, memory speed supported by the motherboard is only 100 MHz. These two things will become common in one or two months so I think It is better and safer to wait for the new cards to come to come. Some new motherboards are good such as ASUS-K7m or FIC SD-11, If you can't wait, you can buy one of these but I think it's better to wait a little while.
