This card came to be mine in a funny way. I was helping a friend upgrade his computer. When the 3D Prophet came in, I discovered that his AGP video was built onto the motherboard. We had to order another card for him, but I didn't see any reason to waste money sending the GeForce back. So, I kept it for myself.

I was using a Voodoo2 at the time I upgraded. The card installed easily and was running in no time. It doubled my framerates in Half-Life Counter-Strike mod and also allowed me to run in 32-bit color. I enabled Full Scene Anti-Aliasing and it took out most of the jagged edges in the game. Now everything looks really sweet!

You can easily control all of the cards settings from the video settings tab. You can even enable overclocking and raise or lower the core clock speed and the memory speed.

It's comforting to know that when games start using the hardware Transform & Lighting, I'll already have that ability.

For anyone who doesn't know, T&L were the last 2 remaining steps of the graphics pipeline not included on the card. T&L used to be calculated by your processor. Now the entire rendering process takes place on your 3D card, which leaves your processor free to work on other things like AI, game physics, and other non-3D things. It improves your overall game performance.

For anyone using a Voodoo2 or lower I would suggest this card. It has a great price ($126 - found it on www.pricewatch.com) and is a great performance boost.
