Man, I love this thing!!

Written: Jan 05 '00
Pros:Invaluable for keeping track of vital information, easy to use, tons of third party applications available
Cons:TOTALLY addictive!!

Well, I had an OUTSTANDING Christmas this year. My wife gave me my gift from under the tree, I tore off the wrapping paper, and lo and behold, there was a shiny new Palm IIIe. I was absolutely ecstatic. Finally I had a new toy to replace my aging Palm Pilot 5000. I was in heaven.

If you're like me, you have difficulty keeping valuable information organized. I was constantly losing phone numbers, addresses, etc. because I would always write those things on any available piece of paper and guess what would happen? Yep, you got it, I would end up throwing it away, the dog would eat it, whatever. But when I finally decided to give the Palm computing platform a try, I was hooked! I keep everything in my pilot. I am now CAPTAIN ORGANIZED!! Well, maybe not totally organized (I am lazy), but I do keep better track of my information.

The Palm IIIe is a nifty little device that allows one to record and store information like addresses, appointments, to do items, memos, you name it. It's a versatile piece of equipment that goes everywhere with you, fits in a shirt pocket, very battery efficient, and easy to use. It connects to your PC with a docking cradle, and information goes from Palm to PC (and vice versa) via data transfer known as Hotsyncing. You can store electronic books (for those long commutes), log travel expenses, even play games!! You can even purchase an optional modem to send and receive email, or surf the web. If you are in need of a certain application, just check some of the Palm websites to download the app that you need. There are literally thousands of applications that can be downloaded and installed on the Palm IIIe. If you just can't find the program you really need, and if you know a programming language like C or C++, you can write your own software! Pretty neat, huh?

Anyway, I'm sold on the Palm IIIe. It's a handy, well designed device that makes my life at least a little more organized.
