Consider Logitech for Joysticks
Written: Jan 24 '00
Pros:Good design, a ton of features
Cons:Extra features not used most of the time
Three years ago my dad saw a huge joystick in a computer store. So naturally he bought it. And it turned out to be an excellent joystick
That was the Wingman Warrior, probably the most unknown joystick in history.
Now since this Joystick was only put out for a short period of time and has been out of production for about two years, I will just say that most of what I say on this opinion relates to Logitech's other Joysticks. The Wingman Extreme is the closest match to what I am talking about.
Let's start out with the details. The joystick is a plastic cover, with a weighted metal bottom. It includes four buttons-all on the range of your thumb. But what makes this cool is the extra controllers. Spin control is located on the left, designed for the left hand to use. Then there's the throttle. And of course a hat, which lets you have eight different views.
The thing about joysticks with extra controls is that many games do not support them. Especially with old games. Overall, these features would only be worth paying by extreme gamers who can actually find a game that it works with (the software for it is very old and does not work with most games.)
Probably most of why I like it is based on it's design. The whole thing is very well molded, looks good, has a very comfortable grip-shaped handle, and it takes a beating (I get very excited while playing old games like X-Wing)
Wingman Warrior was a very good joystick, but I am totally confident that joysticks of this kind would be only for the extreme gamer. But for normal people, if you even need a joystick, consider the Wingman Extreme, which is the Warrior's little sister.
