| ognek's Full Review: Elsa GLADIAC MX |
I recently started playing Counter Strike online I felt that my current Video Card (SiS w/ 8mb) wasn't giving me the performance I needed. So when I started shopping and reading about upgrade options I cam upon the Geforce 2 MX cards. They were highly rated by most shops and online reviews. Since I didn't see myself spending over $200 for those DDR cards I felt that the Geforce MX was the next best thing. I wanted to get an Inno 3d Tornado card which was around $120.00 but the store somewhat convince me to buy the ELSA instead even though it was $20.00 more because the ELSA came with a longer warranty of 3 years. I installed the card and used the latest Nvidia Detonator 3 drivers, downloaded for Nvidia's website. As soon as installation was finished I tried playing Counter Strike using Opengl (my previous card only allowed D3D or Software mode) the difference was night and day. Not only was the images looked nicer but the movements was also smoother. My FPS also increased from around 20 to 65. I am not sure if the video card had anything to do with it but my online gaming became smoother and my PING was also reduced from around 400 to a playable 250. Geforce MX based cards have compatibility issues with VIA based motherboard when playing Opengl. This would sometimes cause the screen to fuzzy up but hitting the esc button and resume would clear this up so it was just more of an inconvenience that a serious problem
