I liked AOL for the first month I had a computer. You know, all the advertisements shown on TV make it look easy and exciting. Everyone has AOL. So Easy to Use, No Wonder it's Number One, eh? Well, AOL is easy to use--but it's horrid none the less. You can't enter a 5 year old Pokemon chat room without receiving 10+ porn spams. Because of such a service, I shall never trust AOL. Now, Instant Messenger is decent; but there are better products readily available. "But Instant Messenger is Free! I don't want to pay for something," you say. Get ICQ. ICQ is now AOL owned, but they haven't tampered with it much (just the disgusting ICQ website). ICQ may seem complex at first, but it's far superior to Instant Messenger. Instant Messenger is for people whose extent in computers is using AOL. 'Nuff said, there. "AOLer" is definitely a derrogatory term. ICQ can send files. Instant Messenger cannot. These are just a few features to compare. Clearly, the intelligent User will choose ICQ, or at least use Both. It's nice to talk to AOLers who don't have the skill to open ICQ with Instant Messenger.
