SERVICE is the key....

Feb 14 '00

After you have made the plunge to purchase a new computer, what happens when it breaks..or worse you break it. Warranties are designed by some companies to just send the computer back to the manufacturer for repairs...This often takes weeks.
And what if they want to "fix" it onsite? Some shops may easily handle this task and return your machine in days. Some may not. Please check for service policies before purchasing your computer. Also make sure the place you decide for repairs has qualified professionals. Not just Joe down the street.
Comptia has a minimum computer competency level called A+ certification. This tells the world this person has at least some level of recognized professionalism.
A+ certification is designed to test the basics of a service persons knowledge of hardware and software. If this sounds confusing...it's not. A+ tests cover, DOS and Windows operating systems. It also has a second test for hardware and networking including basic electronics and troubleshooting. These MINIMUM qualifications are supposed to be learned by a service person with 6 months on the job training.
Many warranties are made void by not having qualified personnel fix the computer. Please Check components you want in your computer and the service needs before you buy.
