Terrible Customer Service

I bought an emachine eOne433 back in August of 1999. It worked great for almost a year and then the Cd-Rom drive failed. I wasn't too terribly upset, after all it is a machine and machines sometimes break. I called tech support and the tech person helped me verify that the cd-rom was indeed faulty. He told me to box up my computer and send it back to them and they would replace it with a newer better eOne500. He said it would take about 7 to 10 days from the time they receive my computer to get the new one. I sent the pc on June 9th 2000 via USPS. That was my first mistake, however the tech support person didn't tell me what method to ship them the computer. Well I called after about ten days(long distance to UTAH) to see if they had received my pc and when I should receive the new one. Well they hadn't gotten my old one yet.
I called every couple of days to keep track of it because I was going crazy without my computer. They didn't receive my computer until June 27th. I asked when I could expect a replacement eOne and was told I wouldn't be getting an eOne because of a lawsuit by Apple computers. But I would get a call from the eOne team to choose a new computer. Well on July 16th I got a call from the eOne team, but the guy I talked to said that they hadn't received my pc yet. I told him he was wrong and that I had verified by two different support persons that they had indeed received it on june 27th. The eOne person pretty much called me a liar and told me I wouldn't receive a new pc until they got my old one. I asked to speak to his supervisor. His supervisor was more helpful and did find where they had received my pc on june 27th. He then put me back on the line with the eOne tech. He pretty much kissed my butt and then I got to pick from a small list of what system I wanted. I was then told it would be about 7 to 10 days to process the order and the computer should ship and that I should call back in about 10 days to get a tracking number. Well I called back in about 10 days and the computer still hadn't shipped. Then I called everyday. One day I was told that they were waiting on a monitor shipment from the factory and that it had just come in the previous day and I should expect my computer to ship within the next five days. We'll I continued to call everyday(LONG DISTANCE) and on August 15th I was told that their warehouse is doing inventory and It would be 2 to 3 more weeks before it would ship. At this point I'm very upset and they said they would refund me my money but it would take 6 weeks or more to get my money back. I decided to get my money back and forget about eMachines altogether. For anyone considering an eMachine DON'T DO IT!!!!! Hopefully I'll get my money back before I hire a lawyer. By the way I'm had to borrow a computer from my dad it's a dinosaur pentium 90mhz. Again avoid eMachines
