EBAY the WAY to GO

Written: Apr 23 '00
Pros:great reputation, easy to use
Cons:none

Ebay is an auction web site. It is a site where people buy and sell items. A seller post a item for sell and buyer post the price that they are willing to pay for the item. The auctions on Ebay last either 3,5,7,or 10 days. You name it and it is probability selling on Ebay as you read or has been sold on Ebay at one time or another. People sell items such as collectibles, toys, books, cookware, jewelry, and etc. Ebay does not any one sell illegal or questionable items. Believe it or not, someone tried to sell their kidney. Yep, you read right, their kidney. In that situation, Ebay stopped the auction because selling your body parts is illegal. Ebay has a long list of items in which they will not let anyone sell.

I am probably Ebay’s biggest fan. I found out by Ebay on accident about 1 ˝ years ago. I got addicted to bidding and buying. As I started getting more familiar with Ebay and what people were buying and selling, I got into the selling aspect of Ebay. Now that is basically what I do on Ebay. Selling items on Ebay is very nice way to earn a little extra money.

Ebay is an auction site where it is free to register. When I registered, you did not need to use a credit card. A few months ago Ebay is now requiring all new user to register with a credit card. They start starting requiring a credit cards a few months ago to help cut down on people abusing the system by having multiple Ebay accounts.

For buyers, Ebay does not charge a fee. The only money that comes out of the buyers pocket is their bid price plus shipping cost. For sellers, Ebay does have fees. They have a fee for listing a item. This fee is based on the starting price of your auction (see site for sliding scale price list). Ebay also charges a few if the item you list sells. This fee is based on the final bid price (see site for sliding scale price list).

I find that most of the buyers and sellers on Ebay are honest people. Of course you have a few bad apples in the bunch. One good thing about Ebay is that they have a system where buyers and sellers can leave positive, negative, or neutral feedback about an auction transaction. This feedback is very useful, especially if you are a buyer. You can read comments about the person who is selling an item you are interesting in buying. Reading a sellers feedback comments can make all the difference in the world.

Even though there are other auction sites out there on the web that do not charge a fee, I am going to stick with Ebay. Ebay is known worldwide. Thousands and thousands of people visit Ebay everyday. Because I Ebay, I have had buyers who live in other countries like Canada, France, China, and Hong Kong.
