This is the printer I almost bought. I have an ALps 5000 (dye sub) printer which died after only 100 or so photos were printed out on it in about 14 months (thought the photos were great looking, best I ever saw). I will write a review on it later. Technically it looked like the best most realistic photo printer in its class from all the information I could find initially which is what I was in the market to replace. However just before I bought it I found the following website which details a problem which negates this printer as one I would ever want to own as a photo output printer. Here is the URL of very detailed and up to date which lays out the problems on the 1270's color shift in as a little as 24 hours on any kind of paper: http://home.cox.rr.com/meyerfamily/epson/epson.html.
The site is searching for a fix and running many many tests to document and try and resolve the problem but read it before you buy the printer. You will be very glad you did.
