The Sony lock-up

I got a Sony VAIO last week. Then I returned it and got another one. Then I returned it and got a Compaq Presario. Here's the story-

I needed a new computer after what I went through with my Packard Bell. (read about that experience here:
http://www.epinions.com/cmd-review-7C7B-80681EB-39DB7310-prod1 )
So I went shopping for a reliable brand. Sony came highly recommended. I went with the Sony VAIO PCG-F630, all-in-one notebook.
It locked up on me from the get-go. I couldn't deal with another unreliable computer, so back it went the next day. I got the same machine and returned home.
This new one did the same thing. Constant lock ups, where control-alt-delete did nothing. I couldn't get anything done. I stuck with this one for 4 days before I couldn't take it.
I tried calling customer service since I really liked what the computer had. After 10 minutes of button pushing, a computer voice told me I'd have to wait 45 min. That's when I lost it and decided to switch brands. I also found no help at their website. (The popular suggestion was to restart the computer, which I had to do practically every 20 min.)
I just do not believe a brand new computer should come with such a bad problem. I switched it for a Compaq Presario, and have had minimal problems. (just a lock-up here and there)
I have read great reviews about the other Sony VAIO laptops, but the one I got isn't listed to review. I'm afraid I must have a knack for picking defective computers.
