Mail.com offers a free web-based email service with a selection of domain names to choose from. You can be @usa.com, @consultant.com, @techie.com, @dr.com just to name a few (they offer around 50). Some of the great things about this service is that its free, they offer 5MB of storage space, and they provide you with a few extras like a calendar, a to do list, an organizer and it even has a thing for notes. The 5MB of storage was what got me (and to have an email @techie.com...What Can I say I'm a computer Tech) because I like to keep records of my emails. Another nice feature is that when you delete an email it goes to a trash folder so that you can undelete it if you need to. Deleted emails stay there until its been in there for 30 days or so or you delete it again. Mail.com also offers automatic email forwarding. So if you only want to check one of you email accounts then you can forward all the email you recieve to another email address.
