| KCFemme's Full Review: Yahoo! Mail |
I had been using Yahoo! Email for a few years, but never really received anything more than junk mail because everyone knew my main email address. But recently that has all changed and I now have to keep up with it or I run out of my 6 Mg of space very quickly.
I decided that I would use Yahoo! EMail for my Epinions account. For those of you who are scoffing because you have seen my email address, I will address the differences and why I still say I use Yahoo!
You see, my email address is kcfemme@infosnapshot.com. InfoSnapShot is my website and I am allowed my own personal email addresses. However, the domain host does not give me the ability to read that email through them. So I had to find a third party that could read my InfoSnapShot email.
Enter Yahoo! Email
Through Yahoo! I set up for my mail to be retrieved from my domain host and delivered to my Yahoo! mailbox. This would allow me to read them easily without clogging my main personal email box. The transition is flawless from the time you send the email to my InfoSnapShot address and when I open the email. If you have sent me a message in the past, you may not have even realized that the message was being rerouted and delivered to me in a different manner.
The setup to retrieve email from other mailboxes is easy, the instructions are detailed and set up in a step-by-step manner.
Of course, you can always use Yahoo! as your main email account and have people send to you directly, it works just as well. :-)
Yahoo! provides multiple folders for easy filing of both your incoming and outgoing email. You can choose to have a copy of all email you send placed in the Sent folder for your own future use. If you start writing but don't get finished, you can quickly save it in the Draft folder so you can come back later and finish it.
The incoming mail will automatically come in to your Inbox, but if it is set up in a certain fashion, Yahoo! will automatically transfer the email to the Bulk Mail folder. This is good, because it does catch most of the spam.
In addition, you can create your own folders to help you further classify your email (i.e. Epinions, Friends).
As for composing an email, it is just as simple as most other email programs. The part that I like is that it is hooked to the Yahoo! Address Book. So all the email addresses I've saved in the past are already available to me and I can just choose who to send it to.
For a free email program, I'm rather impressed with what Yahoo! has offered to anyone that will try it. If you need a second email account or are tired of your current email service, Yahoo! is definitely worth a try. It is easy to use and free ... so why wouldn't you give it a try?!
