| christo2001's Full Review: Dell Dimension XPS T500 |
dell has the reputation of being the most reliable computer maker in the market..ever. it is. they have not only the most reliable, fast, and well-valued machines, but when the machine has a problem (which any computer you ever buy will have), dell's tech support is also the best in the industry. i have had apples, compaqs, and ibms. they are all decent machines but the dell is much better for many reasons.
first off, the dell has everything you need in a computer and none of the extra frills that just get in the way. the case is very simple but it is extremely easy to open up so that one can easily upgrade components. it is not all fancy like those of apple, compaq, etc. this is just one of many features and traits that make this computer a computer for people who really know how to use computers. dell does not pre-install a whole bunch of dell-specific software that is completely useless like other companies either. pretty much the only software they pre-install is industry-standard stuff like ms office, windows, anti-virus made my a software company, not dell, etc.
and unlike other computer companies (especially big ones like compaq), dell does not manufacture every single part of the computer. it buys the memory from memory makers, hard disks from hard disk makers, modems from modem makers, graphics cards from specialty graphics cards makers, etc. this gives the system a quality that others cannot come close to with their cheap parts that they made themselves.
over all this computer has been a dream and i would recommend it to really hardcore computer-heads but also to first time buyers since these machines are so reliable. also, being able to custom make your own computer online is the best thing to happen to buying computers since they were invented (which dell invented and is still the best at).
although dells are usually a little more expensive than your bargain basement pc, what you get for that little extra money is quality parts and service and the time back that you would usually be spending on the phone calling tech support about a bad computer.
