The Palm OS is king of organizing softwareApr 21 '00 Write an essay on this topic. It's been much debated which PDA operating system is superior, the Palm OS, or Windows CE. There is no question in my mind that the Palm OS is a far superior organizational OS in comparison to windows CE. I have had PDAs with both operating systems, a Phillips Velo with win CE and a Palm III and Handspring Visor Deluxe with the Palm OS, and have been able to draw several conclusions supporting the Palm OS. First and most important, if you want an ORGANIZATIONAL OS, definitely go with the Palm. There are too many extras and navigation and handwriting are not as well developed on CE. I would liken CE to a small laptop, not a PDA. Second, in the Palm OS you only need to use the four buttons on the PDA to access all the major applications, no click here, go there, menu selection as in CE. Lastly, the Palm OS is on Palm and Handspring products which are much smaller than CE based products (for the most part) making it work better as a true PDA (an item that can easily fit in a pocket (but don't put it in your back pocket and sit on it!)). I do hope that this opinion can shed some light on the decision that many people wanting to buy a PDA face everyday. I would definitely go with the Palm OS product, but choose that which suits you best. |
