I've been using Freeway for some time now and recommend it highly. This service isn't just for calling from home, but can be used on pay phones too. Which has helped me out several times when I was out shopping and didn't have and change for a phone call. However I wouldn't recommend this if you're going to have a long conversation. The bad part is that you have to listen to the ads first, so if you want to talk for some time you'll have to sit and listen to a good amount of ads, plus there's a 2 hour monthly maximum.
But listing to ads is a small price to pay for free calls. Each ad is about 10 - 15 seconds, and you earn two minutes for each one. So if you listen to just four ads, which takes only about one minute, you get to talk for free for eight minutes!
