The Intel PC Camera Pack's was one of those PC ad on items I knew I needed but wasnt really sure why. Well let me tell you it is one of the most versitile pieces of peripheral equipment I own. First off as a single Dad it is important for me to be with my children when I can. As we all know sometimes that is impossible. The Intel PC Cam Pack makes live video visits with Dad, or any other family member you my not get to visit with as much as you would like, very very in expensive and easy.
First off the unit I purchased was USB so it is basically a plug and go installation. Software is very easy to install as well. In fact a free copy of the Intel Video-Phone software is included to send or give to a loved one so that almost the moment they have the software loaded on their computer you are in video conversation with them. Only they can see your video since they have no camera but just this alone is usually enough incentive to go out and get a cam so YOU can see them as well. The picture quality and sound quality is far above the competition. Usually you can tell that someone owns a Intel cam just by the clarity of the picture. This cam is also great for taking still pictures, just keep in mind that this is not a camera that you can take anywhere. It is limited to the length of the cable that is attached to the camera and your computer. If you sell things on the various auction sites this is an in expensive way for people to see the item you are selling. Again photograph quality is exceptional.
The Software that Intel includes also offers many ways to get creative with your photographs. Three games are also included that your little ones will love. They put you right in the middle of the action like....virtual basketball....my personal favorite.
I have had mine for over a year and have been very happy with Intels support, follow up new product announcements, and software updates. The camera itself lists for $79.95 but you can occasionally get $10 rebates thru intel. Bottom line, this is one of the best products I have purchased for my PC. You can get cheaper cams but I dont think you will be as happy as you would if you purchased this product.
Those of you that remember the 1964 NY Worlds Fair may recall seeing the first picture phones. Who would have ever thought we would have one that was so inexpensive and high quality available to us today. WOW!!!!!
