Gateway makes great computer systems. As a computer Programmer, I have been around computers a long time. As a result, I have used many different Gateway systems. I feel that they have very good systems for sale, with a decent tech support and reliability rating.
What they do best:

Mail order company, so you can order a system with the options that you want. They also have an excellent track record of taking care of their customers. Tech support has been helpful when you can get through.
Where they need work:
--------------------
They need more tech support people. It can be hard to get through sometimes. They need to provide more reliable monitors.

I currently own a Gateway system and have been using that system for nearly 3 years now. The only problem I have had with it is a CD-Rom drive that went bad during the first year. Gateway offered to send someone out to fix the problem, or send the part to me. I chose to have them send me the part, since it is not always easy to find someone home at my house to let in a repair man. The parts arrived in about 2 days, and I have had no other problems. I have seen some monitors go out from time to time at work, but there we are talking about 50 pc's.
I would definetly recommend gateway to anyone who is shopping for a computer. Their prices are now running higher than some of the other companies, but I feel that you get what you pay for.
