| Jim22's Full Review: Dell Inspiron 7000 A400LT |
First let me start off by saying that this laptop has one of the nicest screens I have seen. The 15 inches of viewable space is wonderful and also makes for a very nice portable DVD player. (Heavy but portable) Let me get right to any problems I have experienced with this computer and Dell.
First off, the first Inspiron 7000 arrived and everything was fine until I turned it on. Once on, I noticed a single pixel that was always red in the center of the upper left quadrant of the screen. I was almost ready to live with it until I remembered how much I paid for it and decided to ship it back. Dell was very accommodating and had it picked up the same day and a new one was on my door within two more days. Excited to see a flawless screen, I turned it on once again. Well what do you know!! There was no red pixel anymore!! No, now it was yellow and in the center of the bottom right quadrant. I called Dell up again and told them what happened. They said that it was acceptable for 5 pixels to be out. That will pass there quality control! I ask everyone reading this, if you spent 3 thousand or more, would you want anything less than perfect? Anyway, they informed me that I was only allowed to swap the computer once. After pleading with them for a while and informing them of how unhappy I was with this, they decided to take off about $500 from the price. Well seeing that I could either take this or take nothing. I took it.
I know that to some people it might be crazy to be unhappy over one little pixel. But try watching a DVD movie and all you can focus on is that bright little yellow dot staring you in the face.
Besides this one problem, I still must say that Dell was very friendly and accommodating the entire time. They do have excellent Customer Service and I enjoy doing business with them.
I have never had one other problem with this laptop and I have had it for one year. Overall it is still an excellent product and if you can get one without a pixel out then you will have one great machine!!
