My computer has been to HP Bench Repair twice in the last three months. It is still not repaired!
This is a follow-up to my other posting and the continuos problems I have had with this system. It has been nothing but trouble.
The computer was sent to HP two weeks after I got it. I bought it from UBID and it could not be returned. HP warranty received it 9 Oct 00. I got the computer back from HP on 9 November. The repair paper said they replaced the processor. That obviously was not the fix. It locked up 27 times in a matter of 6 days. I shipped it back to HP.
I got it back again on 1 Dec. This time they replaced a part and gave me a DIMM 64MB 100MHZ. I do not believe this is the same part I had. Once again, it was not the fix. Since I have had it back, it has locked up 7 times! (in 3 days).
I called HP yesterday. The HP rep guided me through some diagnostic tests. My system resources was running at 55%. I shut down many background programs and started again. Today, after the second lockup, I called HP and am downloading chipset software from their website. The system locked up twice during downloads. It fully completed on the third attempt.
When the system locks up, everything freezes. You have to shut the system completely down (cold boot) to get the system back up. This is pretty aggrivating. It is going on three months and I feel that the only change is my increasing dislike for this computer and HP.
