My New Life Calling

Written: Oct 30 '00
Pros:incredibly easy, lots of tools, great price
Cons:absolutely none

You do not have to pay a lot to have access to every function of professional recording gear, and this is why:
Guitar Studio is catered to the guitarist, but do not be fooled by the name. It is fully functional for a full band, even a symphony or orchestra for that matter. Some of the tools making it ideal for the guitarist include: Built in chromatic tuner, Slowblast (a program which slows down music loops without changing pitch), Drag and Drop Drummer, and easier use than any mixer/recorder. And forget the hassles of bouncing down, mixing, editing, and enhancing, that you would find on a tape deck. Everything is highlight and click. Drag that misplaced measure to the appropriate beginning. Speed up that part where your incompetent drummer slowed down twenty percent. Mark every important part of your song with easy flags that also aid in highlighting the right section and specifying functions that are only applicable to specific parts of your song.
Further more, cakewalk is the easiest in mixing down to a single track, or even mixing down to a specific file. Guitar Studio comes with a trial version of Pyro, cakewalk's easy file format converter, making it easier than ever to get your song web compatible, or CD burnable.
Want another excuse to get rid of that old tape recorder? Plug your instrument right into your sound card, even a midi instrument, and record. Or send your midi music to your compatible instrument. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of different synthesized sounds out there that are all ready to be incorporated into your musical masterpiece. And when you do so, it is all recorded digitally, at CD quality. No more of this 96 kbps. 128 sound good? 256? More?
And the finishing touch: the price. Get the full functionality of that $2500 mixer/recorder, plus midi, and unbeatable convenience at $250. Although if you want a tip, try purchasing Guitar Tracks first, get acquainted and comfortable with the program (which is virtually the same, just fewer high level options like midi) and then consider upgrading for $80. That makes a total of only $130 for the full Guitar Studio program. This is a great program at an incredible price. Please email me with questions before buying, or even if you're a user having problems.
