I recently started teaching myself HTML. I went out, bought the "Teach yourself HTML in 24 hours" book, began reading it and playing around on a Geocities site (which looks like garbage but it was my first attempt at web building and I tried to over-do it in my zealousness to create a wonderful site.
Then Front Page 2000 comes along. After finally getting Office 2000 installed I immediately went to Front Page and started tinkering around. 2 hours later I had the makings of a truly nice web page. (when it's complete I'll post the URL here so you can see for yourself) I'm not too computer literate, I know enough to get me by, but not enough to make a site look sleek and user friendly. This is why I love FP 2000, it allows you to do most everything you want, keep it netscape and internet explorer friendly, and even publish and maintain from your own hard drive (however this feature doesnt work with MOST web hosts, hosts and Microsoft are both working to remedy this)
Ever try to do tables? It's hard. FP lets you insert them. Making a picture gallery? Insert a table, insert your picture files, and just use the auto-thumb feature and it sizes them down and allows the users to click to enlarge automatically. No extra work for you. DHTML, Java, Active-X and many other features can be used with FP 2000 as well. Radio Buttons, pull down menus, check boxes, search features, counters, scrolling text, all available for you to use at the click of a button.
If you don't know HTML, you can use this software as a guide. When creating a page, it gives you a choice of 3 ways to look at it. In normal programming mode, HTML mode and Preview mode. Click the HTML mode and just read it, you can learn it by looking at it. FP automatically produces the HTML and keeps it all nice and neat for you on that HTML mode page. Wanna see the finished product before you publish it, use the "view in browser" feature. It launches your browser and allows you to see how it will look when published.
From HTML master to Computer dummie, this program will make you look like you've been making web pages for years. Very, very easy to use and extremely simple to master. Help is always available if you get confused or caught up. If you're looking for a software to design your own on-line business or even a simple family web page, this is definitely the software for you. So simple even my mom could do it!
